About the Role
We’re seeking a founding Applied AI Engineer for our AI coaching product aimed at Fortune 500 companies. In this role, you will rapidly develop our AI coaching product, designing, experimenting with, and implementing LLM approaches. Reporting directly to the Technical Lead and closely collaborating with the CEO, you will be integral to shaping the product vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement: Design and implement LLM calls to achieve product goals.
- Optimize Performance: Continuously improve LLM performance, scalability, and accuracy.
- Collaborate: Work with the product team to understand and prioritize requirements.
- Experiment: Conduct high-velocity experiments and statistical analysis for product optimization.
- Code: Write, review, and deploy code across both backend and frontend as needed.
- Innovate: Research and innovate LLM/NLP techniques, models, and advancements.
- Document: Maintain thorough documentation of models, prompts, and processes.
- Support: Assist with other coding and feature development tasks as required.
First Week Expectations
- Ship a product enhancement or idea.
- Get familiar with the product and team.
- Meet the broader team and understand their roles.
- Understand the technical architecture and roadmap.
First Month Expectations
- Support 1-2 major product features or technical enhancements.
- Review current engineering work and suggest improvements.
- Refine and structure prompts.
First Three Months Expectations
- Strategize and scope multiple large technical projects.
- Improve codebase and processes for secure, maintainable software.
- Ensure high-quality, easily maintainable code.
First 6-12 Months Expectations
- Continue delivering major product initiatives.
- Support the technical team to ensure efficient execution.
- Become the internal expert in NLP/LLM.
- Take on senior responsibilities and help scale the product to dozens of Fortune 1000
- companies and thousands of users.
Ideal Candidate
- 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or similar role.
- Proficient in LLM model deployment and maintenance, especially in production environments.
- Strong skills in NLP and deep learning approaches.
- Experience with Python and Django.
- Skilled in structuring and running data-backed experiments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure (ECS, Terraform, RDS).
- Exposure to early-stage startups, preferably B2B SaaS.

Location and Work Environment
This remote role is ideal for candidates in PT or ET time zones, with flexibility for global collaboration. Candidates must have valid ID/passport and unrestricted travel capabilities in the US.
