Job Description
We are looking for a Revenue Accountant to join Block’s Accounting team. This role, based in the San Francisco Bay Area or remote, will play a key part in partnering with product and systems teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities
- Operationalize and Refine Tasks: Embrace new responsibilities and streamline processes.
- Revenue Recognition: Partner with engineering and product teams to build scalable revenue recognition processes in Oracle.
- Process Improvement: Review and enhance current revenue recognition procedures to improve efficiency and timeliness.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to lending products.
- Intercompany Transactions: Reconcile intercompany balances and establish processes for future transactions.
- Audit Interface: Work with Internal Audit and external auditors on technical accounting matters.
- Compliance: Collaborate with Technical Accounting, internal audit, Accounting, Tax, Counsel, and Treasury teams to meet international operational and compliance needs.
- SOX Compliance: Continuously improve business processes, systems, and enhance documentation and controls.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with diverse teams domestically and internationally.
- Variance Investigation: Partner with Square’s Finance & Strategy team to analyze variances between actual results and forecasts.
- Audit Support: Support quarterly reviews and annual audits conducted by external auditors.
- Special Projects: Complete special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Passion for Block: Strong interest in technology and knowledge of the industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years in accounting, including internal or external audit, GL accounting, and/or revenue accounting.
- GAAP Expertise: Strong technical expertise in GAAP.
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel, including VLOOKUP and complex data manipulations; SQL experience is a plus.
- Software Experience: Oracle Cloud experience is a plus.
Additional Information
Block uses a market-based approach to pay, which varies by location. U.S. locations are categorized into four zones based on geographic labor costs. The starting pay will depend on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
- Zone A: $88,100 – $132,100
- Zone B: $82,000 – $123,000
- Zone C: $75,000 – $112,400
- Zone D: $66,100 – $99,100
