Sr. Accountant

Inventory whiz wanted! Join Nordstrom’s Retail Accounting team (Remote-friendly!)
Do you love analyzing numbers and keeping things organized? Are you passionate about fashion retail? If so, this merchandise accounting role at Nordstrom could be perfect for you!

In this role, you’ll be a key player in ensuring the accuracy of our inventory and financial statements. You’ll work with data from stores, warehouses, and our accounting systems to track inventory movement, analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement.

A Day in Your Life:

• Help us close the books each month, on time and accurately.
• Analyze and report on inventory levels and profitability.
• Team up with different departments to resolve any discrepancies in inventory data.
• Review and record inventory transactions correctly in our accounting system.
• Help with budgeting and forecasting by understanding how inventory impacts our finances.
• Use your problem-solving skills to identify and recommend improvements to our systems and processes.
• Support internal audits and help prepare for external audits.
• Take on special projects to help us grow and improve.

You’re a great fit if you have:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 4 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of US accounting standards (GAAP).
• Experience working with inventory and supply chains.
• A keen eye for detail and a knack for solving problems.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Excel skills are a must! (think pivot tables and vlookups)

Bonus points if you have:

• A CPA license and experience in public accounting.
• Experience with retail accounting systems (Oracle a plus).
• Skills with databases (SQL) and data visualization tools (Tableau).
