Appcues empowers product teams to build user onboarding guides, checklists, surveys, and more – all without a single line of code. Our platform is used by millions of users worldwide, and we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our talented team.
In this remote-first role, you’ll:
- Design, build, and scale backend services using Elixir or Node.js
- Manage data in DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and other technologies
- Collaborate on infrastructure management and automation with AWS and Linux
- Champion DevOps practices with Kanban workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and robust testing
- Work closely with other teams (design, customer success, sales) to understand user needs
Are you a perfect fit?
- You have 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a SaaS company
- You’ve built and deployed large-scale backend systems
- You’re familiar with functional programming (or eager to learn Elixir)
- You have a strong understanding of various databases and data processing tools
- You enjoy tackling complex problems and delivering value incrementally
- You prioritize testing, monitoring, and observability in production
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with building/deploying/maintaining infrastructure
- Experience with queue/worker/streaming architectures
- Experience migrating to modern technologies while maintaining high availability
