The Opportunity

This freelance role offers a 1-year contract for a Senior Design Manager to develop engaging design solutions for CA’s Spanish Language Arts curriculum (print & digital). You’ll collaborate with the design team, editorial team, and stakeholders throughout the design process.

Responsibilities

-Partner with the Design Director and team to define creative direction and user experience for new products.
-Design engaging and cohesive solutions for both print and digital components.
-Lead and manage the design and user experience of product components, ensuring usability for teachers and students.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are research-driven, user-focused, and culturally responsive.
-Establish Design Best Practices and contribute to style guides, templates, and workflows.
-Develop innovative products with educators to create culturally responsive resources.

You’re a perfect fit if you have:

-Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (or similar) and 7+ years of experience in K-12 education design (Spanish Language Arts preferred).
-5+ years of experience in print design processes and production.
-Experience developing and implementing product-specific visual design plans (print & digital).
-Experience with Design Thinking, User-Centered Design, and UX artifacts (personas, user journeys, etc.).
-Experience leading design teams and collaborating with vendors to deliver high-quality educational products.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
-Expertise in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
-Working knowledge of prototyping tools and willingness to learn new applications.
-Proficiency in Spanish (required).

Benefits

-$55 – $65 per hour wage range.
-Medical coverage after 90 days for employees averaging 30+ hours per week.
