Principal Duties and Responsibilities
As a Corporate Tax Director, you will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing our corporate tax strategy. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Development and Implementation: Design and implement effective corporate tax strategies, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Foreign Tax Compliance: Oversee the development and management of compliance for international tax matters.
- Tax Calculations and Approvals: Approve the preparation and calculation of corporate estimated taxes and direct tax rate calculation initiatives.
- Audit Management: Develop and execute comprehensive tax audit plans, ensuring all corporate tax audits are effectively conducted.
- Tax Returns: Approve federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Financial Projections: Review and approve quarterly and annual tax projections, providing strategic analysis and advice on the company’s tax position to senior executives.
- External Relations: Maintain relationships with external CPAs to assess corporate tax impacts and exposure, particularly in foreign operations.
- Strategic Planning: Offer strategic tax planning and recommendations to executive management on all tax-related issues.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay current with tax laws and regulations, informing the executive team of potential impacts and changes.
- Department Leadership: Set goals, priorities, and standards for the Tax Department, and develop policies and procedures to enhance performance.
- Communication and Coordination: Implement effective communication channels and ensure coordinated efforts within the Tax Department.
- Project Management: Direct personnel to complete necessary projects and tasks, ensuring the department has appropriate resources.
- Special Projects: Undertake additional duties and special projects as requested by management.
Skills and Experience
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:
- Industry Experience: Experience in the offshore drilling industry is preferred.
- Project Management: Experience managing global or multinational projects.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of local, state, and country tax compliance regulations.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with J D Edwards and Hyperion is beneficial.
- Tax Research: Experience with tax research services like RIA, BNA, or IBFD.
- Microsoft Office Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail.
