The E.W. Scripps Company is on the lookout for a skilled Backend Developer to join our team. This role involves creating new and modifying existing application software, analyzing system requirements, and supporting system planning and implementation. We offer a remote work option for this position.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate: Work closely with various departments to plan, design, and develop websites and software applications.
- Develop: Utilize and assess technical architectures, designs, and frameworks.
- Lifecycle Management: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, release/version control, testing, deployment, and support.
- Document: Develop technical specifications and documentation.
- Train: Provide training and documentation for applications.
- Innovate: Develop special sections and site features to enhance user engagement.
- Support: Contribute to team after-hours support duties and troubleshoot technical problems.
- Evaluate: Stay updated with evolving technologies and perform application testing.
What You’ll Need - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: 2+ years in full lifecycle software development and 3+ years in interactive media or relevant online business.
What You’ll Bring - Technical Skills: Coding, web development, database experience, and use of version control software.
- Knowledge: Broad enterprise-class technical knowledge in software development, technical operations, information security, and business process architecture.
- Assurance: Experience in Systems Assurance roles to ensure the quality of systems.
- Troubleshooting: Use of trouble ticketing systems and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Collaboration: Effective relationship-building skills, ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Communication: Proven verbal and written communication skills.
- Organization: Excellent organizational, project management, and follow-up skills.
- Creativity: Utilize creativity and problem-solving skills.
