Join Our Team: Accountant I

As an Accountant I, you will utilize your fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and procedures to perform a wide variety of accounting functions. Your role is essential in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance within our organization.

Purpose and Scope

  • Use your fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and procedures to perform a variety of accounting functions in your assigned area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform bank-to-general ledger transaction matching and bank account reconciliations weekly and monthly.
  • Prepare various reports for daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare schedules for internal and external financial audits.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Maintain internal financial and accounting controls.
  • Maintain financial records and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare daily invoices.
  • Handle fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations, capital project cost tracking, audits, and communication with asset custodians.
  • Assist in preparing the capital budget.
  • Communicate professionally with co-workers, management, vendors, and others.
  • Research and resolve transaction issues within the system.
  • Assist with maintaining department files.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting software, including Microsoft Excel and all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Experience in a professional accounting position preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: $28.50 – $31.50 per hour, depending on experience.
